CHIROPRACTIC CARE FOR IMMUNE DISORDERS

Chiropractic Care for Immune Disorders

Introduction

Chiropractic care is one of the natural ways to treat various health conditions, and can be especially beneficial for individuals with immune system disorders. This care can be provided to your through Clinic 27’s services. Here’s why.

Disorders of the Immune System

The immune system is responsible for protecting the body against infection and disease. When working properly, it can distinguish between foreign invaders and healthy cells. However, when it’s not working properly, the immune system can become confused and begin attacking healthy cells instead. This leads to several disorders, including allergies, autoimmune diseases, and immunodeficiency disorders.

Allergies occur when the immune system overreacts to a harmless substance, such as pollen or dust.

Autoimmune diseases occur when the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissues, cells, and organs.

Immunodeficiency disorders are caused by a weakened or dysfunctional immune system that is unable to effectively fight off infection.

Both autoimmune and immunodeficiency disorders can be serious and even life-threatening. While there is no cure for these disorders, treatments are available to help manage symptoms and reduce the risk of complications arising from an immune system that is not functioning as it should.

Causes of Immune Disorders

Immune disorders can be caused by a variety of factors. In some cases, they may be the result of an overactive immune system, where the body mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, believing it to be dangerous. They can also be caused by an underactive immune system, which fails to protect the body against infection. Additionally, genetic defects can lead to immune disorders, as can certain medications and infections.

Treatment for Immune Disorders

Treatment for an immune disorder will vary depending on the underlying cause.

One common therapy is immunotherapy, which helps to stimulate the immune system  as well as treat a variety of conditions.

Corticosteroids are another type of therapy that can be used to suppress the immune system and reduce inflammation.

Finally, biological therapies such as infliximab (a monoclonal antibody that works to enhance and improve the immune system) and etanercept (biological therapy to reduce inflammation) can help to target specific parts of the immune system and are often used to treat conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease. While there is no cure for an immune disorder, these medical therapies were designed to help improve the symptoms and quality of life for those affected.

Alternative Therapies

Several alternative therapies are effective in treating immune disorders. One of the most well-known is acupuncture. Acupuncture has been used for centuries to treat a variety of conditions, and recent studies have shown that it can be effective in boosting immune function. Another therapy with promising results is meditation. Meditation has been shown to reduce stress levels, and this may help improve the function of the immune system.

Several supplements also help boost immunity, such as vitamin C and Echinacea. While more research is needed to confirm their efficacy, these supplements may offer a safe and effective way to improve immune function.

Chiropractic Care and Immune Disorders

Mounting evidence suggests that chiropractic care can be an effective treatment for most immune disorders. For example, one study found that chiropractic adjustments increased the activity of natural killer cells (a type of white blood cell otherwise known as large granular lymphocytes that help to fight infection). Another study found that chiropractic care helped reduce inflammation and allergies in susceptible individuals, without the need for steroidal drugs.

Some people with immune disorders may benefit from frequent chiropractic adjustments, while others may only need to be seen once a week or every other week. Ultimately, the best course of treatment will be determined by working closely with a qualified chiropractor. Immune disorders can be a challenge to manage, but many different medical and alternative therapies can be effective in treating them.

If you or someone you know suffers from an immune disorder, consider consulting with one of Clinic 27’s experienced chiropractors, who will help you achieve the immunological robustness and quality of life you desire.
